With Season 2 of Warzone and Black Ops Cold War coming to an end, we’re fast approaching Season 3. From the release date to rumors of a new battle royale map and plenty more, here’s everything you need to know about the next major update.
Each new Season in Call of Duty comes with a ton of fresh content. From new maps, modes, Operators, weapons, and everything in between, new Seasons always mark the biggest content drops of the year.
With Season 2, Warzone’s ongoing storyline continued to unfold. With zombies and radiation zones now active across the map, everything is building towards a Nuclear Event, and expectations are higher than ever for Season 3.
From when we can drop into new content to what we can expect from the Nuke Event and leaked information about new weapons, here’s a full rundown of what we know ahead of Warzone Season 3.
When does Warzone Season 2 end?
No different from previous seasons, the latest Warzone update gives us a clear picture of when to expect Season 3. According to theBattle Passcountdown, Season 2 runs for a total of 55 days.
Therefore,Wednesday, April 21is the date currently locked in for the end of Season 2. While this date seems solid for the time being, there’s always a chance a mid-season delay could change things. We’ll be sure to keep you updated if the current season is extended.
Warzone Season 3 release date
Working off the current end date for Warzone Season 2, we can assume that Season 3 kicks off immediately after. This meansWednesday, April 21is a likely release date for Warzone’s next major update.

Black Ops 6 & Warzone Season 3 delayed as fans await Verdansk return
However, with devs nowteasingthat the “end” will arrive on April 21 – which is assumed to be a reference to the upcoming Nuke Event – the new season launch could end up spilling over until Thursday, April 22.

New Warzone map rumors
As we pass Warzone’s first anniversary, rumors of a new map are only continuing to heat up. WithZombiesnow on Verdansk andbunkers openingacross key locations, everything appears to be lining up for a nuclear event.
The latestleakshave indicated that a new map is indeed on the way, but it might not be what you were expecting. Following the nuclear event to close out Warzone Season 2, players could be going back in time.
With the modern-day Verdansk soon to be in the rearview mirror, according to aleaked celebrity trailer, the next map will be a flashback to Verdansk in the 1980s, with new POIs and major changes to the Dam and the Verdansk Stadium.
Considering that Black Ops Cold War is set in the early 1980s, it makes a lot of sense for Warzone to now head back in time to continue to expand on the game’s story.
Warzone ‘Nuke Event’ details
Warzone Season 2 is expected to end with a catastrophic event involving the zombies that have slowly taken over in recent weeks, as well as the dangerousradiation zonesthat have begun appearing on the map.
A physical teaser sent out to influencers byTreyarchhas all but confirmed where the Nuclear event is going to take place. Unlike their usually cryptic clues, this one featured a helmet with the location “Verdansk Dam” written on it.

An accompanying warning note, meanwhile, confirmed that the upcoming event will take place onApril 21 at 12PM PTand included the message: “Once the hostiles reach here, we levee a guess that Verdansk is all but gone to the damned.”
We’ll have to wait and see exactly what happens during the event, but it’s pretty safe to say that Verdansk is going to be unrecognizable by the end of it all.
Weapons & Blueprints
As with every new seasonal update, expect to see a few new weapons and Blueprints in Warzone Season 3. No particular weapons have been confirmed by devs just yet, but there have been some exciting leaks.
According to reliable Call of Duty leakerZestyCODLeaks on Twitter, three new weapon files were added to Warzone during the games midseason update: ar_t9fastburst, sm_t9spray, and me_t9ballisticknife.
These are just codenames for now, but it seems the first will be a burst assault rifle with a “fast” rate of fire, while the second could be an SMG, although it’s unclear what “spray” means. The final file seems to be the ballistic knife that previously leaked.
In terms of Blueprints, expect to see a good variety of new Blueprints when Warzone Season 3 arrives.
Warzone Season 3 confirmed changes
Although most Season 3 details are being kept secret, Warzone developers Raven Software haveconfirmeda few changes that are coming soon in an attempt to address the complaints many players have been making.
