British actor Simon Pegg who played IMF technical field agent Benji Dunn in theMission Impossible series, became a known face thanks to his association with theStar Trekreboot series and later for his role in the cult franchise starring Tom Cruise.

Pegg who is also known to share a warm rapport with Tom Cruise, faced his fair share of personal challenges that threatened to derail his promising film career. The actor spoke about how he had to tackle these problems even while filming forMission Impossible 3.

Simon Pegg Battled Alcoholism OnMission Impossible 3Set

British actorSimon Peggwho played a key role in Tom Cruise’sMission Impossibleseries confessed in an interview that he had suffered a mental health episode during the filming ofMission Impossible 3back in 2006. This in turn led to him going into a very dark place and finding refuge in alcohol. The star who has been a mainstay in all of theMission Impossiblefilms after the 3rd installment, spoke of how he managed to cover up his illness to everyone on set.

“You become very sneaky when you have something like that in your life.You learn how to do it without anyone noticing because it takes over. It wants to sustain itself and it will do everything it can to not be stopped.”

Despite suffering through the difficult times alone, Pegg admitted that he was fortunate to have realized that he needed help and sought it at the right time before it was too late. The actor is currently in recovery and in a positive frame of mind by his own confession.

British actor Simon Pegg who is an integral part of Tom Cruise’s iconic action franchiseMission Impossiblehas spoken about the easy and warm relationship he shares with the Hollywood superstar. Talking of Cruise’s humble demeanor behind his aura, Pegg said,

“My relationship with him is just very simple and amiable. It’s always been a very easy relationship. I think you realise, when you meet the person rather than the thicket of mythology that’s built up around them, it’s a different experience”.

When asked to express his thoughts on Tom Cruise’s controversial association with Scientology, Simon Pegg was quick to reply that his relationship with theMinority Reportstar was based on his experience with him on the film set. Therefore anything outside of it which included Cruise’s personal life and preferences would not be of concern to him as it would amount to abusing his privilege and taking advantage of his friendship with the star.
