Meryl Streep is one of the most well-recognized actresses in Hollywood. Having been acting in major films since the early 1970s, the actress has set the bar for what is considered talent and good acting. She has been part of massively influential and successful projects like Mamma Mia!, The Devil Wears Prada, Sophie’s Choice, andThe Bridges of Madison County, leaving perhaps, one of the biggest marks on the film industry to this date.

Being this successful, many would remember every single step that they took to bring them where they are. This does not seem to be the case for Streep, who forgot the name of her first highly successful film.

Meryl Streep Has Had 21 Oscar Nominations
It is no surprise that with how talented and successfulMeryl Streepis, she would have seen her fair share of Academy Award nominations and wins. Other actresses, like Kate Winslet, Cate Blanchett, and Helen Mirren, who have seen similar heights of success to the actress, all have had a handful of nominations and wins over the years. What is quite surprising, however, is that Streep has had 21 Oscar nominations and three wins over 44 years.
This number makes the actress the individual with the most Oscar nominations of all time. The actress has been nominated in the category of Best Actress, seventeen times, and the category of Best Supporting Actress four times. She has also won both of these categories two times and one time respectively, for her work inKramer vs. Kramer,Sophie’s Choice, andThe Iron Lady.

Meryl Streep Forgot The First Film That Got Her An Oscar Nomination
One would expect that having achieved this much, Meryl Streep would remember the names of, if not all, at least the first film that brought her the amount of success that she has right now, however, this was not the case. While doing an interview forJimmy Kimmel Live, the actress was asked to play a game where she would have 60 seconds to name as many movies that gave her an Oscar nomination as she can.
“You forgot the first one, they say you always forget the first one.”said Kimmel

Surprisingly, however, the actress was only able to name a handful of her many nominations, forgetting 16 of her iconic films. When Kimmel pointed out that Streep could name her first Oscar nomination, the actress could not remember the film. She then answered, mentioningThe French Lieutenant’s Woman,to which, Kimmel told her that that film was her third nomination and her first was her 1979 film,The Deer Hunter, where she starred alongsideRobert De Niro.
